![]() Living from the Heart through the practice of Bhakti- the yoga of devotion
In Yoga, the heart is said to be the place where our personality and deep feelings reside; in the tradition of Tantra it is seen as the home of our soul and the balance point between our material existence and the realm of greater self-awareness. The latest studies in neuroscience have found that the heart begins to beat in the unborn baby even before the brain is formed and that it has an electromagnetic energy field 5,000 times greater than that of the brain and can be measured with magnetometers up to 10 feet beyond the physical body; scientific proof that our hearts literally radiate the frequency of love. Kirtan is a form of devotional yoga called Bhakti that celebrates the beauty of our connection to life and the bliss of unconditional love. In Sanskrit the word kirtan, means, "to repeat" and consists of mantras that are sung in call and response. Repeating the same sounds over and over can bring on a state of deep meditation where the participants experience the power of their own vibrations as well as feeling their inherent connection with others.
